10 Things to Do before you Search for a Web Designer:

  • Plan your site: goal, page content, functions, feel & look & marketing avenues.
  • Write your site's content.
  • Gather all materials you'll use in your site: Logo, Photos, videos, PDFs, etc.
  • Be aware that Copyright is a top issue in the web. Make sure you have permission to use photos or other art that don't belong to you. Copying anything can have serious consequences.
  • Pretend you are a potential client and search the web for your product/service. See what your competition is doing & take notes. But most importantly, make a list of the keywords you used to search your product/service.
  • Prepare a list of sample sites for your future web designer of likes and dislikes.
  • If you do not have a domain name (yourbusinessname.com) yet, check if it is available by typing it in a browser. If nothing comes up it might still be available! If you are comfortable, purchase a domain name & hosting soon. If not, your web person can help you with that.
  • Make a list of links you want to include on your site.
  • Set your web project's budget.
  • Plan how you will market your website once it is live. :)

Things to Know about Designers

A web designer does not write a website's content. The professional who does this is a Web Copywriter. Many of them specialize in writing Search Engine friendly content for your site. Still, many clients write their site's content themselves.

A graphic designer works on print projects (ie: business cards, flyers, etc) and brand identity (ie: logos). You can, however, find web designers who are also graphic designers and expand their work into the print world. Just remember to ask as it usually is not in the web designer's scope of work.

Our Work Flow - "What is Next?"

Consultation: First we'll meet to discuss your business' online needs, plans, and budget so we make sure that your investment is more than an online face and it is, most importantly, a business tool. This meeting will also allow me to get to know you and your business so I can better portray you on the website.

Contract: Once we agree to work together, we’ll build a service contract that includes all the details of the website project, including start date and estimated finishing date.

Deposit: As soon as the contract is signed the agreed deposit will be payable. The project will begin once the depost is received.

Materials: To avoid delays, all materials (copy, images, videos, references, etc) will be needed before Chaska Creative can begin a project.

Ready, set, go: Once I receive all your materials I select the most fitting inspirational music and start the fun!

We will be in touch mostly by phone and email for questions or milestone reviews.

The duration of the project will depend on the complexity of the site.
